2025 Player Outlook

Tatis Jr. saw his power numbers trend in the right direction in 2024 after he experienced a dramatic decline in power during the 2023 campaign. He improved his ISO 25 points to .216 in 2024 and launched 21 homers in 438 plate appearances, but it still fell well short of the prodigious power he flashed during his first three seasons when he sported an ISO around .300. If the power continues to trend towards his peak form, Tatis Jr. has a chance to be the top outfielder in fantasy.

Fernando Tatis Jr. was ejected from Monday’s game against the Yankees for arguing balls and strikes.

Tatis was tossed from Monday’s rain-soaked affair at Yankee Stadium in the seventh inning after striking out for the third time in the contest following a questionable called strike earlier in the at-bat that appeared to be well below the zone. Padres manager Mike Shidlt was also thrown out after expressing his displeasure with the call. The 26-year-old fantasy superstar finished the night 0-for-4 at the dish. We’re assuming he’ll use this as motivation for the remainder of the series in New York.

Tatis Jr. made things happen himself with the game tied in the top of the ninth. He reached second on a hustle double before stealing third and scoring on a wild pitch to give San Diego the lead. The 26-year-old outfielder has been outstanding, hitting .342/.414/.598 with eight homers, 26 runs scored, and eight steals across 133 plate appearances.

It’s a relief for the Padres and fantasy managers to see Tatis back in the lineup without missing any time after being hit by a pitch during Friday’s series opener in Pittsburgh. Initial X-rays came back negative for any fractures and the 26-year-old fantasy superstar appears to have avoided serious injury.

Fernando Tatis Jr. was diagnosed with a left forearm contusion after leaving Friday’s game after being hit by a pitch.

Initial X-rays came back negative for any fractures, but initial X-rays aren’t always reliable — especially when there’s the massive amount of swelling that Tatis was dealing with after being plunked on Friday. He’ll continue to receive treatment and be evaluated, but it’s unlikely that the Padres will have a clear picture on his status until Saturday. For now though, it appears as though he was able to avoid any significant injuries.
